Nooteboom ASD-40-22 Drawbar Semi Low-Loader Trailer
The range of Nooteboom Supertrailers consist of 3 and 4 axle units with different load floor options including wheel wells, container guides, excavator trough and aluminium guards while different loading options include 4 & 5 metre folding hydraulic ramps, 3 metre fixed hydraulic ramps and aluminium hook-on ramps.
The 1:50th scale model reviewed here from WSI Models is based on the ASD-40-22 with hydraulically operated 3 metre ramps and DAF 8x4 tipper truck.

The load floor extension system is fully replicated on the model with plastic pivoting supports which swing out while several lengths of simulated wooden panels with integrated metal hooks fit onto the supports to widen the trailer.

When not in use, the extension panels clip onto the trailer hooks, folding along the side of the trailer frame which is a nice addition on the model. |

The rear of the trailer is fitted with 3 metre hydraulically powered loading ramps which have clip-on safety locking chains and simulated wooden panelling. |

The deck of the bed is fitted with simulated wooden panels with holes along the outer edges of the frame where the included metal stakes can be inserted. |

The front frame houses a pivoting towbar complete with spring support and flexible service lines and hooks up to the rear hitch of the DAF 8x4 tipper truck. The entire frame rotates for steering with simulated suspension arms and air bottle fitted. |

The DAF tipper is decorated in the Nooteboom house colours with white printing of the Nooteboom logos. The front steering is functional with a limited range of steering movement and the cabin tilts forward to reveal the modelled power-plant beneath. Attention to detail is excellent with a fully replicated underside including drive-train and suspension detailing.
The rear tipping movement is replicated with a multi-stage hydraulic allowing a very good tipping angle with pivoting tailgate. The tipping rear body has fully operational covers which fold along the sides of the body while loading and then pivot over to cover the body during transport of the material.
